Meet Our Dance and Conditioning Instructors

Why Dance with us?

All classes are taught by a qualified Royal Ballet Affiliate teachers with at least 15 years’ experience. Each bespoke class will incorporate different aspects of professional classical ballet, alongside providing a fun and welcoming atmosphere to exercise and connect with others. 

All our teachers have experience working in professional dance and understand the pressures that can build up in our working and family life. Due to this the classes will focus on enjoyment and empowerment along with technique and fitness. 

Isobel began her vocational training at the Arts Educational School Tring Park, and then went on to complete her professional training at Bird College, Conservatoire for Dance and Musical Theatre. Isobel trained as an associate with The Royal Ballet School and performed as a soloist with the National Youth Ballet.

Isobel’s passion for music and choreography began at an early age where she was awarded the Barbara Geoghan Choreographic award twice and her work was performed at Sadlers Wells, London. In addition to being awarded the ISTD Young Dancer of the Year, Isobel’s choreography won The Creation Choreography Award from UK’s leading dance school principal Luis D’Abreu. Isobel is now an international performer and choreographer.

She currently works as The Head of Dance at The Big Act Academy of Theatre Arts, the South West’s leading musical theatre college, offering professional, vocational training in Dance and Musical Theatre, and is the principal of Isobel Powell Performance and Dance. In 2022 She was amongst the first of twenty-five teachers worldwide to train in The Royal Ballet School’s Training and Assessment programme, and now holds affiliate teacher status with The Royal Ballet School.

In 2019 Isobel was awarded a scholarship to study in New York at The American Tap Dance Foundation. 

Recent choreographic credits include Kipps Half a Sixpence, Move It Mainstage 2022-2024, West End Alive Bristol Hippodrome, Singing in the Rain Bristol Hippodrome, Artistic Director Tumbellina International. Sweet Charity, Cabaret, Bristol Dance Associate Programme. Performance credits include Romeo and Juliet, English National Ballet, Tumbellina International, The Old Man of Lochnagar, McOnie Company, The Royal Albert Hall, Louise (Carousel,) Hooray for Hollywood, The Orchard Theatre, Cinderella, (QDOS Entertainment,) Hofesh Shechter Company, Swerve Dance Theatre Company.

Isobel has guest tutored at other leading vocational colleges including Morea Performing Arts, The Arts Educational School Tring Park, University College Weston Dance, Bristol Old Vic Theatre School. She has a wealth of experience teaching children of all ages ranging from junior theatre school work, coaching children for ISTD and RAD exams as well as competitions and Eisteddfod dances.

Many of Isobel’s students have gone on to either land major West End roles or continue their professional training at top London vocational colleges. 

After graduating Naomi was a featured dancer in the following productions: The Illusionists, Dir Neil Dorward – The Shaftesbury theatre London Westend, Sydney Opera house and world tour; ‘Ray’, Dir & choreographer Gary Lloyd, UK tour; ‘Rock around the clock’, Dir Neil Dorward – UK & US tour; ‘Dancing Queen’, Dir Alan Harding – UK, US and Asia tour; ‘Lullabies of Broadway’, Dir Brian Rogers – UK & World tour; ‘Spirit Of Christmas’, Dir Gary Lloyd – The Kodak Theatre Los Angeles & European tour; ‘Twist and shout’, Dir Alan Harding – UK tour; ‘Sensual Dreams’ Dir Ricardo Canadinhas, Amilla Fushi, The Maldives; ‘Peter Pan’ Dir Lesley Grantham Nottingham theatre Royal; Naomi was part of the ‘Spirit Of The Dance’ super troupe as their lead Spanish dancer performing all over the world.

Naomi has danced in numerous hair, fashion & trade shows both in the UK and Europe including ‘Salon International’ – Excel Arena London; ‘Alternative’ – The Albert Hall; ‘Spring Salon’ – Birmingham NEC, ‘The L’Oréal fellowship awards’ – The Dorchester London

Choreography & Associate choreography credits include; ‘Sensual Dreams’, Amilla Fushi, The Maldives, ‘The Illusionists’, Sydney Opera House, Broadway and London’s Westend; ‘The World Television Awards’, Monte Carlo Sporting; ‘Le Noir’, Tokyo, Shingawa Prince & World tour; ‘Rock around the clock’, UK & US tour; ‘Thursford Christmas Spectacular’, Thursford; ‘The King Of Rock and Roll’, Monte Carlo Sporting; ‘Hot New Country’, Niagara Fallsview Casino; ‘Twist & Shout’, UK & US tour; Naomi has also choreographed for the following clients, Schwarzkopf, Matrix, Elisabeth Shaw, Hobbs, Wella, & G-Star.

Naomi lived in Los Angeles for many years where alongside her choreography work was a personal trainer at the world renowned ‘Body By Simone’, where she trained numerous celebrity clients.
